• As a Software Engineer, you are responsible for the development, performance, and scaling of our backend services and internal systems. You will work independently while collaborating with your team and contributing to technical decisions.

• Rapidly developing next-generation, scalable, flexible, and high-performance systems,
  and taking end-to-end ownership of their performance by monitoring and adjusting SLIs
  and SLOs.
  ● Solving issues with the site and internal systems, prioritizing them based on customer
  impact.
  ● Serving as a point of contact for issues and communicating with both technical and
  non-technical audiences.
  ● Testing our systems; Booking.com runs thousands of experiments at a time and has built
  one of the industry's most advanced A/B testing platforms.
  ● Evaluating customer needs, identifying suitable solutions, and assessing different
  programming languages (e.g., Perl and Java), architectures, and risks.
  ● Contributing to Booking.com's growth through interviewing, onboarding, and other
  recruitment efforts.
  
  At least 3 years of software development experience, using two or more server-side
  programming languages.
  ● Experience with backend or distributed systems and API or service-contract design.
  ● Proven experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL, or comparable relational databases.
  ● Experience working on products that serve a large customer base is an advantage.
  ● Strong testing, production troubleshooting, and observability skills.
  ● Experience driving cross-team discussions and solution alignment is a plus.
  ● Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
  ● Excellent communication skills, with strong written and good spoken proficiency in
  English and Chinese.
